My name is Magda and since I'm Polish, I possess an unpronounceable surname. When I was 5 my best friend's brother was in a heavy metal band and that's when I fell in love with Guns N' Roses. We sang 'Don't Cry' at our school's Mini Playback Show. We didn't win. When I was 9 my first original cassette that my Mum bought me for good grades in maths was Red Hot Chilli Peppers 'Blood Sugar Sex Magic'. I did have a girly silly music period in my life but I made up for it soon afterwards. I studied Film and Media Studies and became hooked on deconstructing and analysing movies, which lead me to become a movie critic for 'FILM' magazine in Poland. But my love for music and discovery of post rock somehow took the long awaited lead. Since I arrived in London I've been living from one gig to another. One day a band called Rumour Cubes approached me on last.fm to listen to them and that's how I eventually found out about Dan and Echoes and Dust. I since became the go-to person for essays instead of reviews (old uni habits die hard). I also joined Chaos Theory as their gig photographer and photography gradually became my main focus and drive. You can check that all out on my website magdawrzeszcz.com.

ArcTangent Interview: Caspian

Caspian absolutely slayed at ArcTangent, despite a technical hicup that saw the stage lose all power just as they were about to let rip, and were widely regarded as one of the standout moments of this year’s festival. Literally 10 minutes before heading off to play they were kind enough to sit down with us for a chat. By Dan Salter

Live Review: Roger Goula industry showcase – Servant Jazz Quarters, London

Magda Wrzeszcz saw Roger Goula play at the Cognitive Shift Recordings label launch, which was held in collaboration with Chaos Theory. “Roger Goula instantly became one of my artists to watch and it seems he’s destined for greatness and I wouldn’t be surprised if his name was soon mentioned next to contemporary classical giants like Nils Frahm or Olafur Arnalds.”
