Two and a half years on since their last show and more than four years since Appearances Of Collection came out, Rumour Cubes are back with a gig, on Friday 14th Sep at The Underdog Gallery in London Bridge, and not one but two new tracks to release. With that in mind, we thought it was a good time to have a chat with the band and see what they’ve been up to in all that time.
We were pointed in the direction of Dream Logic by Tim from perennial E&D faves Tomorrow We Sail & we thought anything Tim was in to would be worth checking out; and how right we were. We were so impressed that we immediately booked Adam to play our show with Rumour Cubes at The Underdog Gallery next week (14th Sep) so we thought it would be a good time to get him to give us the lowdown on his influences.
In short, Bearded Theory was probably the best festival I’ve been to in nearly 20 years. An absolutely outstanding event that will be the first on our calendar now for the foreseeable future. By Dan Salter
If ArcTangent feels like a gathering of the clans for this rapidly coalescing community then Strangeforms is surely the premier precursor event now. Great people in a fantastic place and extraordinary music. I don’t really look for much more than that in life. By Dan Salter

The Good Ship in Kilburn, a bastion of North West London’s indie scene, hosted three consecutive nights of Independent Venue Week this year, with Rumour Cubes joining AK/DK and a wealth of other talent for the venue’s personal culmination of the festival, on a bill put together by post-rock record label and promoters Nice Weather For Airstrikes. 2014 was the year Arctangent grew up to be a proper festival. Last year was great but it’s easy to be a great festival in the blazing sunshine. The real test of a festival is whether it can stay great when the rain comes down and come down it did, especially the Friday night providing a suitably apocalyptic backdrop for the dark riffage of Russian Circles, yet Arctangent coped with it without missing a 13/4 beat. Ahead of their appearance at the festival, we spoke to a number of the bands playing for the first time about what they’re looking forward to. Today Magda talks to Rumour Cubes.
Such was the success of last year’s event that I’ve spoken to numerous people since who have told me it’s a festival their friends have been going to “for years”. Already firmly ensconced in the annals of post/math-rock history, ArcTanGent 2014 has a line-up that will knock your socks off.
When the end of year thought process revolves around and we try to list the year’s finest collections, Appearances of Collections will unquestionably be making an appearance. By Geoff Topley
On this bluest of blue Mondays we present the first installment of a new series exploring the relationship between music and mental health. Rumour Cubes’ Hannah Morgan talks us through why, for her, being in a band has been as beneficial as psychotherapy.
What made the night perfect – apart from spotless organisation courtesy of Group Therapy – was the fact that all of the bands gave the audience something to look forward to in the new year – from fully announced Calla’s ‘Navigator’ due in Spring via Rumour Cubes working titles and album recording well under way, to Flies Are Spies’ yet unnamed tracks. – by Magda Wrzeszcz
In the first of what will hopefully become a semi-regular series of debates about important issues in the music industry we discuss the fallout from Thom Yorke’s intense criticism of Spotify as a streaming platform for new artists…

I was no Oliver Twist when I found an instant appeal to Rumour Cubes’ music on first hearing them last year. Happily it’s been only a few short months to wait to hear their first full length album and, in late February, everyone gets their turn. What s …
’The Narrow State’, the debut album from London six piece Rumour Cubes, is one of the most eagerly anticipated post rock releases of 2012. Ahead of their launch show on Saturday (18th Feb) we managed to pin down Adam (guitar / electronics), Hannah (vio …
