Wild Rocket are in thrall to Hawkwind. They also have a penchant for Nuggets style garage rock and also the visceral, guttural vocals of Dead Kennedys. As a whole that makes for a rather interesting trip as Geomagnetic Hallucinationscareens its way down its wayward path.
It's utterly pointless to try and pick the songs apart. Each one melds into the other as the band play the hell out of their instruments creating a lysergic wall of noise replete with bouncy synths, unrecognisable vocals and a heart bigger than a blue whale. Wild Rocket approach music at 100 miles per hour and have the time of their life doing it.
It may be difficult to sit through in one sitting, as it does get pretty intense at times. It's an original sound but takes a strong mind to stay the path as they do everything to frazzle it. It's music that requires letting go to and must sound tremendous live. It also threatens to derail at any given point adding an element of uncertainty and danger to proceedings.
It could almost be childish enthusiasm at work here if it wasn't for the sheer tenacity in keeping this whole album together. Not ones to slow down at any point, they continually batter your senses throughout this album and you may have to have a lie down after. That said, it is remarkably good and they can count themselves as one of the more interesting psych bands around. They may have their influences but they take this and turn it into something altogether quite new and in doing do deserve plaudits. Fun and frightening in equal doses, welcome to the crazy world of Wild Rocket.
