DAVID from UK: Find Us
In 50 words or less, tell us what you sound like?
I make raw, passionate, weird and uniquely wordy music. The words are my focus - personal, chaotic and confused but full of hope and naive wonder. People have compared me to Jeff Buckley, Tom Waits, XTC, Paolo Nutini and Tracy Chapman; an odd little mix if I don't say so myself.
In 100 words or less, tell us why we should listen to you?
Because the music is fucking great. Simple. Artists are like fairies, man Every time you listen to Miley Cyrus or One Direction or the next big mega-corporate soul sucker with a marketing budget and a sexy video just titillating enough to keep their pre-teen audience comin' - one of us fucking dies! Don't let it happen! I do believe in DAVID, I do! I do! (Maybe possibly got over-excited there, I feel I should perhaps edit this, but I'm gonna let it stand.)
If you had to pick one of your tracks for our readers to listen to, which would it be?
Give us 3 bands you’d recommend we listen to?
65 Days of Static
What inspires your music?
That widespread feeling of impotence and powerlessness when it comes to altering the way the world runs. Those moments of pure happiness when it all just falls away. I want to share this joy and pain and highlight the illogical and the strange.
All that and uh... marijuana.
What we say:
It's the voice that catches the attention with DAVID. The music sits somewhere on the spectrum between Iron & Wine and Jon Spencer but it is the strength of his voice that really makes this stand out. By Dan Salter
