Black metal, as it evolves through the years seems more and more to pick and choose from the best parts of other genres of metal. More and more black metal artists are tuning and tailoring their sound to bring something different to the scene then just the spooky noise of bees guitar and abandoned church reverb.

Uhtcearu is a band which is doing just that. Their sound is cleaner than your average kvlt warrior, with vocals which are harsh, but not the usual screams from the abyssal permafrost under dark. The Plight of Wanderers has an almost a blackened crust sound, without all the politics. Rough, in your face blast beats with fragments melancholic melodies. The tracks paint more of a forlorn feeling, emotional, and powerful.

I really liked the cleaner approach of black metal in these tracks. It really gives a unique sound to this album. The tracks are well written; the musician ship was fantastic for being a three-piece band! Guitarist Dustin Studelska, is spectacular at writing meaning full and emotional rhythms.

The Plight of Wanders really is a solid album, which fills the gap that Agalloch has left since their disbandment. Solid song writing, filled with raw emotion and forlorn lyrics. Highly recommend you pick this album up.
