Cvinger is black metal through and through. The Enthronement ov Diabolical Souls is a black metal album through and through as well. No gimmicks, no weird flutes, no experimenting away from the genre. Just blast beats, growling vocals, and songs about evil ancient gods and war. There is a little clean singing, which is a turn off to some trv kvltists, but not much and makes sense in the tracks.

The Enthronement ov Diabolical Souls, opens with an invoking chant, which seaways into four minutes of a blast of hell fire and fury. This cadence is kept up through the album and is a great example of a solid black metal album. Does it mean it is good? Depends, while the tracks are well written and the guitars are great. This album does get a little vanilla. The tracks are all four minutes or longer and seem to just bleed together.

While I really like the old school black metal sound, Cvinger doesn’t do a good job on mixing things up a little. It seems like I have heard these songs somewhere else, on another album with pointy lettering and black backdrops. Again, don’t get me wrong, this album is solid, it just needs a little variety.  Sticking to the formula kind of makes your album a little dull. But I’m sure this band would be great live.

The only track which stood out for me was ‘Eikmus Manifestation’, the layering of the guitars gave it a great Swedish black metal sound and of course the nice running double bass always gets me. This album is good, this album is the black metal sound, but it is also its downfall. I hate to say it, but it is just too much black metal, which makes the album repetitive.
