Hibernation is released on March 4th on HeviSike Records and up for pre-order through here

United Kingdom’s HeviSike Records is not unknown among the global community of vinyl sniffing record collectors. They release limited edition vinyl from a whole range of national and international artists, including very limited diehard pressings which usually come with some nice extras, such as hand numbered alternate sleeves, embroidered patches and limited pressing colours. The label’s found a niche in the stoner, fuzz and psychedelic musical genres, and their upcoming release by Lightsabres, entitled Hibernation, is no different.

Lightsabres is the one man band led by John Strömshed, who’s also the front man for Swedish hard rock/blues outfit Tunga Moln. Hibernation is the follow up album from 2015’s Beheaded, which created a bit of a buzz in the underground music world. On this new album John continues along the same lines as on Beheaded, but he has grown even more in his song writing skills and Hibernation sounds more mature and complete than his previous solo work.

On Hibernation it is obvious that John found his musical escape from the daily goings by producing 10 tracks of really nice, lo fi, psychedelic fuzz. Though don’t expect any Monolord or Conan-like heavy fuzz, Lightsabres’ sound is a lot more spacious and lush, with the fuzz sounding very warm, almost vintage. Combined with the characteristic vocals, which at times get reminded of Billy Corgan’s vocals, makes for a very captivating and chilled out listen.

You can listen to the lush, fuzzy tones of Hibernation exclusively below. So make yourself comfortable, put on your headphones and get lost in the journey that is Lightsabres…
