“I’m the kind of guy who watches and movie and immediately goes and checks the trivia page on IMDB. I’m constantly crawling through the wikipedia pages of my favorite albums for little nuggets of info that help me appreciate my favorite pieces of media even more. Since I composed, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered this album, I have a comprehensive knowledge of every single aspect of it. My brain is just bursting at the seams with little anecdotes that I want to share so I decided to create this series of “composer commentary” videos to coincide with the release of my album Lunaria. I provide my commentary as text over the top of audio, it’s a passive way for me to communicate with the listener while they take in the album in real time. I also have the added benefit of being able to use visual cues and examples to break down certain musical ideas. I am collaborating with a talented visualist named SBthree, who often creates visuals for my live shows. SBthree is creating custom 3D art, utilizing the multitrack audio from each song to trigger complex real-time visualizations.”
