There is always a time and a place for thrash hardcore like this, and now is the time. With songs like 'In Greed We Trust' and 'U-Lock the Bike Cop', people everywhere can get behind the music and the sentiment.
I’ve seen Iron Reagan before and I really like them. But I can never keep track of Iron Lung, Reagan SS, Iron Cross, Reagan Youth… Iron Reagan has members of Municipal Waste. So, you’re going to get that heavy thrash that’s always fun with a bit of silliness or politicalness. In this case, it’s a bit more political. Remember that, so you won’t be confused like me and buy the wrong records.
The Tyranny of Will has 23 songs and none of them disappoint. If you are confused on why so many songs are on 1 album; bands like Iron Reagan should have no less than 20 songs on an album. You want the short, heavy, thrash trash anthems. And that’s what you get. 'Bill of Fights' is a real fist pumper, too. I would really love to see this song live with a pit going around and round and fists in the air.
The vocals are nothing short of fantastic. Tony Foresta has great energy and keeps up with the guitars and music so well. My favorite part are the backup vocals, though. For this kind of thrash/hardcore cross over, you have to get that group anthem going. You just have to! Coupled with the super fast guitar and the deep, in your face bass...each song has its mind made up and it wants you to get in the pit. Iron Reagan also has samples here and there to break the songs up. I can’t quite figure out what it is on the song 'Bleeding Frenzy', but it’s fun to make up my own, dark, messed up story.
After listening to The Tyranny of Will twice, I have decided I really like it. Anyone who likes hardcore or thrash should check out this album. I would also suggest checking them out when they go on tour. Their live performance probably should not be missed.
The Tyranny of Will releases on September 12th, 2014 (Benelux/DE/Finland) and September 15th, 2014 (UK/World).
