Seattle duo MARBLE are set to release their newest single titled ‘I Become A Ghost’ on January 31st. Today, we have the pleasure of premiering the single ahead of tomorrow’s official release.
MARBLE is made up of vocalist Chantel Bailey and guitarist Matthew Blount but the band collaborates with a “rotating cast of drummers and bassists”. ‘I Become A Ghost’ is the first “in a series of scheduled releases in 2020″ by the duo. The track examines “themes of mental health and spiritual dissonance”. When discussing the single Chantel writes that it is, “A human experience that distills 3 decades into 5 minutes, this single is a cathartic exploration of decades of distrust and generational fear that ruled my early years. Looking back, I see clearly the ways my community took great care in polishing the porcelain shell to preserve the external from what boiled beneath.” The duo manages to take these complex experiences and feelings and translates it all into this emotive track. Chantel’s soft, beautiful and melancholic voice runs parallel with Matthew’s soft but intense guitar work that accentuates the intensity of the vocals at just the right moments.
