A landmark album, both for the band and quite possibly the British metal scene as well.

Steve Fallows asked Life Of Agony guitarist Joey Z some question to find out more about the band’s comeback.

At any other show…(a lack of interaction between band and audience)…would almost certainly be a bad thing, but in this setting it just felt right. The bands played their sets and we were there to witness it, rather than take part.

It looked an impressive bill before the show, and looking back I realise that I saw 13 great sets in one day… It took a good few days to properly get over this show, and I wasn’t even drinking.

During their recent UK tour Steve Fallows managed to catch up with Black Star Riders guitarist Damon Johnson to talk about the album, evolution of the band and how the band have finally got their own identity.

Life of Agony have always done exactly what they have wanted to do and never really paid any heed to what has been expected of them, and this album is no different.

During their recent UK run in support of their new album ‘Gods of Violence’, Steve Fallows had some time to sit down and chat to Sami Yli-Sirniö of Kreator to ask about the new album and the thrash scene.

The second day of this year’s edition features excellent line ups at each of the four venues in Camden, and indeed it was the first day of the weekend to sell out, which considering the strength of the rest of the bill is some going.

They do what they do without any gimmicks, give their all onstage and get a great response in return.

Steve Fallows saw Skindred, Raging Speedhorn and Death Blooms at the O2 Academy in Liverpool. “If they could somehow manage to capture this atmosphere on record, they would be one of the biggest bands in the country.”

An eclectic daring record that maybe doesn’t quite take them onto the next level just yet, but instead sets them on a different path, where if they develop this sound over the next couple of albums, you could see them producing something very special.

Steve Fallows went to the Manchester Academy 3 to see Helmet with tour support Local H. “It wasn’t until maybe six or seven songs into the set that Page addressed the crowd, and then he started educating the crowd with a few facts about the band members hometowns.”

Steve Fallows managed to chat to guitarist Andreas Kisser from Brazilian legends Sepultura about how the band have survived through difficult times, how they rebuilt and the future as they look towards a new chapter in the bands life.

Following on from the raving review of Marillion’s new album, Steve Fallows went to see the band live in Manchester. “Easily one of the best live performances I have seen, and even some of the diehard fans I saw on social media in the days afterwards were saying the same thing.”

A magnificent celebration of not just a band, but the scene they they helped create and mould into the worldwide stage it now has, from the tiny Kingston studios where they first played.

An unusual combination of style and subject matter, great musicians who don’t take things too seriously, making for a highly entertaining show.
