So the first Symbiosis event went really well – all the bands were great, and as some of you know already E&D nominees Three Colours were voted to go through to the final *smug look*.
For those of you new to this, CogDissPR asked their favourite passionate proponents of new music to nominate their top up and coming bands, with the criteria that they must be unsigned and have never recorded in a professional studio. They will be showcasing these bands at a series of live events between March – June at the Urban Bar in Whitechapel. The top act from each night will play together at a final in July, with the overall winner being offered free mixing and mastering at Cafe Music Studios, free PR from CogDiss and a slot at Supernormal Festival in August.
The competition will be judged by CogDiss, Cafe Music and Supernormal alongside The Blue Walrus, Chaos Theory, A Negative Narrative, Sourmash, The Whiteboard Project, and us, who have all nominated bands.
The next heat is coming up in a couple of weeks on April 21st and features:
Citing cups of tea, food, West Yorkshire, Oscar acceptance speeches, Colonel Sanders, Meteorology and Gravy as influences, Soulmates Never Die makes music because he was unhappy with hours and hours of playing Fifa 10 and The Legend of Zelda all day.
Sci’enta Dystene [Science-Destiny] is the musical & personal journey of
Richard Creek (Drums) & glynne Cicada (guitar). Their basic goal is to create challenging, thoughtful & intuitive music without the constraints of fear, restraint or compromise. To maintain their integrity & passion in an ever changing world perpetually concerned with the mundane & mediocre.
Rapesbladder is probably not right in the head. I’ll tell you one thing, if he was 4, and I was teaching kids, I wouldn’t even give him the play scissors. For a variety of reasons (/mercies), that isn’t the case. There was once an interview with Saint John Peel where he said “I like the idea of Intelligent Dance Music, because it presupposes the existence of stupid dance music”. Rapesbladder might be that. He’s certainly out to make your head feel like you’ve not really got to grips with life and reminding me that fuckstep was a GOOD IDEA
It’s free entry and promises to be an exceptional night, so don’t miss it! Check out the Facebook event for more details.
