New Orleans nihilistic sludge legends Eyehategod team up with recently reactivated Santa Cruz hardcore band Bl’ast! for a split release featuring a track each by the renowned bands.

Bl’ast! kick things off with their contribution, a storming new track called ‘Cut Your Teeth’ and it sees the band continuing the rich vein of quality since their reformation with this three and a half minute detonation of hardcore intensity. With the recently recruited rhythm Nick Oliveri and Joey Castillo as the bands rhythm section, Bl’ast! snarl through ‘Cut Your Teeth’ with the energy of a band half their age.

Eyehategod follow this in true EHG fashion, with their trademark grooving sludginess mixed in with a great dollop of sheer hatred. Built over a huge Jimmy Bower riff, the track sways as Mike Williams spews his soul over the epic groove and even though it is a shorter than normal track for Eyehategod it is just as effective.

This split is a great reminder of how good both of these bands are and new full albums from each of them is what we need as soon as possible.
