Born out of a London basement in 2010, in violet marries the experimental with the familiar. Morphing across dissociative landscapes, prisms and diffractions, the concept is one of momentum and exploration. With a carousel of contributors & co-writers across all releases, currently performing as a five-piece, in violet continues to push the envelope of just how far one wild idea can go.

‘Endless Image’ is not your typical single. A slow-burn journey serving as a standalone release, it has has a clear yet condensed narrative arc. Structured as a sort of triptych, it begins with in violet at their most intimate, a fragile falsetto wavering in a delicate space. Chad Murray’s Rick Wright-reminiscent pad synth swells into a driving 4/4 club kick, swirling synths and Massive Attack drum groove. The song, which details the experience of a panic attack, crescendos into a cacophonous yet hooky chorus; Jake Murray’s vocal melody floating just above a intense repetition, a-la John Murphy’s ‘In The House, In A Heartbeat’, then suddenly all falls still for one last breath. The song descends into a full, explosive industrial eruption, snarling and chaotic but again tilted by a vocal performance that could be mistaken for Maynard James Keenan.
Setting out stall following the series of comeback singles from 2020-2022, ‘Endless Image’ serves as a precursor of what is to come. Born out of an ivlp3 writing session in Strongroom studio 3 with Rory Jonas Dickinson and Ary Maudit, but ultimately not a perfect fit among siblings, we decided to push this one out a little sooner as a thank you for all the support we’ve received since getting this slow-moving vehicle back on the road. We tracked the live drums at The Joplin House in Kent during a set-up day for Burden Limbs album #2 recording, their George Bailey is behind the kit. Chad was also kind enough to lend some Burden Limbs lyrics as they were a good fit so I asked him jumped on backing vocals in that section as well which we did back in London at Strongroom SR3 once more with Matias Duarte.
