Fuzz Club Session by DAIISTAR

Release date: September 26, 2025
Label: Fuzz Club Records

DAIISTAR are a groovy, psych-obsessed group from Austin. They revel in lysergic-drenched rainbow tones distorted with fuzzy feedback. They’ve mastered the 90s Brit pop sound too, mashing it up with their unique blend of psych and garage rock. Music writers like to brand them as shoegazers, but honestly, psych is another arm of the shoegaze label and they fly much closer to that genre.

Their debut album streeted in 2023 and they’ve been touring up a storm across the US and Europe, finally landing at London’s Lightship 95 studio to create this Fuzz Club session. This edition is number 21 in the Fuzz Club series, and the road work they’ve put in is evident in the taut, highly energised versions on this session.

I am unsure what the opening track title ‘LMB BB LMN’ means, but no matter. It is a primo slice of garage rock with droning undertones. It is followed by the Madchester inspired stomp of ‘Star Starter’. It is a toe tapper for sure that reminds me somewhat of The Dandy Warhols! ‘Say It To Me’ could qualify as shoegaze, while the sprightly ‘Clear’ is lighter edged dream pop. ‘Repeater’ is a gorgeous, fuzzy haze that permeates your psyche, shimmering despite the nature of this banger. Just sublime! ‘Burning Wheel’ is a Primal Scream cover. I’m not familiar with the original, but this version kicks butt. ‘Heathens Gate’ starts out hushed before towering whorls of fuzz kick things into gear. ‘Purified’ caps off the session in fine form!

In short, this is a fun, fuzz-drenched outing from this talented band.
