I've gotta give it to 'em, Teeph sound a hell of a lot better than their name may let on. They released their latest EP Solid Jobs this May and is now up for full streaming via their Bandcamp. Concise and to the point, Solid Jobs hits the spot the likes of Cave In and Botch were hitting back in the early 00's.
There's a definite heaviness to these guys without being hideously dark and gut-wrenchingly gritty, which I'm almost getting to the point of being fed up of hearing lately. Sometimes it's good to hear a bunch of bands that sound fairly alike, but when the same old thing is re-hashed over and over it gets dull and diluted. These guys however, have brought in elements of hardcore and post-metal that seem to have been somewhat forgotten- 'Marijuana Chaos' being a perfect example of such. I'm all for a little resurgence in this kind of sound- a deeper, more post-metal driven side to hardcore.
'Powerful' is an accurate description of these guys. This is whole-hearted music that I'm pretty sure any heavy music fan would have trouble disliking. A definite must-listen as far as EPs are concerned this year. Get out there and give them your support, we need to hear more from these guys!
