The Netherlands are bringing all the good rock albums in 2017. First Dool released their amazing new album Here Now, There Then, and now Rotterdam based dark rockers GOLD follow smoothly with their new album Optimist, which is the band’s third album and follow up to 2015’s critically acclaimed No Image, which was a great artistic success, uniting journalists, musicians, music lovers and even a pro-wrestler in its appraisal.

Together with producer Randall Dunn (a.o. Sunn O))), Earth, Ash Borer, Marissa Nadler), GOLD have put their angular drive, their blackened guitar textures, and the composed yet vulnerable vocal delivery of Milena Eva in an even broader context. GOLD have created an almost unlimited space for their unique unity of beauty and cruelty to crush and confuse even more.

Ahead of the release of Optimist through Ván Records, GOLD now premieres the video for their new single ‘Teenage Lust’. Milena Eva comments: “Teenage Lust is about naivety. We all sometimes have the urge to shut ourselves off from all the outside negativity, to bury our heads in the sand. In the video we reflect on consumerism and materialism as a means to do so. As addictive sedatives. Lester Burnham said it best when he said ‘This isn’t life, it’s just stuff’.

Optimist is available for pre-order through here: vinyl / CD. Watch the video for ‘Teenage Lust’ below and make sure you catch the band live on one of these dates:
