Today we are extremely pleased to be announcing the debut self-titled album of Netherlands-based doom/drone trio Twin Sister. The trio formed in 2019 and is made up of an all-star cast including Jason Stöll (bass), Otto Kokke (keys) and Renë Aquarius (drums). “Jason has played in heavy psych bands Mugstar and Bonnacons of Doom and aside from Twin Sister he currently plays in Sex Swing and Klämp. Otto and Renë are the core of Dutch free-jazz band Dead Neanderthals, whilst Renë has a number of different bands and solo projects. Otto is also in MNHM.” Here at E&D, we also have the pleasure of working with Jason via his label, God Unknown Records.
“The band headed to White Noise Studio in the winter of 2019 to record this, their debut album. Taking a minimal approach where less is more repetition is the key here. Taking a simple riff and repeating the phrase over and over, creates a hypnotic texture that some resembles a trance-like state. Twin Sister play their debut show at this year’s Roadburn Festival.”
The album is set to release on April 17th via God Unknown Records. Today we also have the pleasure of sharing the fourth track from the album, ‘Drab’. The track is lusciously heavy and its repetitive flow lulls the listener into a meditative state. The ending will awaken you from this state, leaving you to face the world again. It’s an incredible track. Listen to it below:
