NEON KITTENS, formed in 2022, draw their name from a misheard Ultravox lyric and are influenced by No Wave, PiL, On-U Sound, and ZE Records. The band came together during a recording session in York which led to them self-releasing their first single. There have been numerous recordings since, either self-released or issued by Metal Postcard Records.

Our premiere, ‘Here’s My Handle’ is taken from their new record Half Man Half Kitten, a split album with The Bordellos and Dee Claw (see below)

The concept for Half Man Half Kitten emerged when Andy from Neon Kittens inquired about the release of The Bordellos’ collaboration (with Dee Claw) album, after hearing some tracks online. Given the slow progress in completing the album, Brian suggested a split release between both bands. Neon Kittens recorded eight new tracks for the split album, and Half Man Half Kitten was born!

THE BORDELLOS, formed in 1997, have released music on numerous record labels, amassing a cult following. For the past 15 years, the band has consisted of Brian Shea, his brother Ant, and his son Dan. Dee Claw, formerly the vocalist for Persian Claws, first connected with Brian 18 years ago on MySpace, bonding over a shared love of 60s garage punk, pop, punk, and post-punk bands. After Persian Claws disbanded, Dee and Brian began working on an album titled Songs In The Key Of Dee completing eight tracks, which have never been formally released.

Half Man Half Kitten is available to download and will be released on limited edition cassette via Cruel Nature Records on February 21 2025. Download and Pre-order HERE
