In The Red Eye of the Evening by Eamon Ivri - In The Red Eye of the Evening
Release date: April 26, 2024Label: Phantom Limb (Spiritual Imprint
Those following the ambient/modern classical/post-rock and other related genres might be familiar with Irish experimental producer Eamon Ivri, even though In The Red Eye of The Evening is his first release under his real name, as he had a series of notable releases under the moniker Light (and his other one, Mineral Stunting).
Listing of a series of genres above is no chance thing with Ivri, he kept crossing musical boundaries already often adding a dose of noise to his previous efforts.
Here, he takes a more subdued route, combining acoustic instruments with more quiet electronic experiments and field recordings, where his musical shadows not only change tonality but switch from late-night dreams into something a bit darker, blurring the borders between the two.
As Ivri explains, it is all “spectral shades of night intermingled with twilight, car headlights illuminating a patch of wet grass, a person obscured by smoke, erased places, hypnotic, gurgle and shimmer, glimmer and fog.”
On paper, it might sound a bit too ambitious to some, but Ivri manages to convert his late-night dreams (and nightmares) into something that is truly creative.. Ivri is shedding quite some light on all of the night’s darkness.
