Italy’s John Malkovitch! are an instrumental / post-rock project with dark-ambient influences. Formed in 2016, the band released their debut LP in 2018 titled The Irresistible New Cult Of Selenium. Since then the band has been busy recording an even darker and heavier LP titled HYENAEH. It was recorded at Vacuum Studio in Bologna, with the help of Mattia Laureti (124C41+) and Enrico Baraldi (Ornaments). The album will be released on October 25th via Antigony Records.
“HYENAEH naturally evolves from its predecessor, focusing on the mammoth work of bass and drums, giving birth to a behemoth that guitars try to contain. The initial idea came through a selection process, analyzing the strengths of the previous record. The atmospheres are gloomier, resulting in both the songwriting and sound being much more aggressive. The record evokes emotions of wild and feral environments, where primal instincts rule.”
