The other Jake started writing for E&D after his midlife crisis started and he couldn’t afford a new Corvette/Audi A-8/Tesla Electric car. The midlife crisis was sparked by Oceansize breaking up and other Jake vowed to never again be caught without a backup favorite kickass band in the wings, thus launching him in to his most recent never-ending search for great music. When he’s not agonizing over what word to use to describe the latest best thing ever, other Jake slaves away in the IT field. Other Jake really hates writing about himself in the 3rd person, but loves to write about himself all the rest of the time! Other Jake is a San Diego native, has a wife and kids, and recently turned 40. Â

Pontiak – Echo Ono

A while back, like less than three months ago, my son suffered a ruptured appendix, which led to a really bad set of infections that landed him in the hospital for 21 days. Why am I sharing this? We are back in the hospital as I am writing this! But th …

Minion TV – Arecibo EP

It’s been almost a month now (in fact today, 4 December, is exactly a month!) since the latest from MINIONTV, a 5-song EP entitled ‘Arecibo’, was released. I really wish that I had written this review a lot sooner, but life being what it is…Now that …

Cyril Snear – Fluent In Seven Types Of Monotone

I have been having some Dog Days of Summer writer’s block of late, and I didn’t want to start a review on Cyril Snear’s ‘In Seven Types of Monotone’ that I didn’t think would really do it justice. But I am writing this anyway! It’s time to share my tho …

US Christmas – The Valley Path

Before a couple of days ago, I was completely unaware of the existence of US Christmas (or USX if you are one of the cool kids like me). When I opened the file that comprises the album ‘The Valley Path’, I immediately noticed that it’s a single, almost …
