German label Pelagic Records released several very interesting post-metal albums in 2025, including records by Belgian bands such as Hemelbestromer, Psychonaut, and Pothamus. Alongside various reissues and box sets from The Ocean, as well as the latest albums by Year of No Light and Årabrot, the label also unveiled Idsungwüssä, the fifth album by Swiss post-hardcore band Abraham—which almost slipped through our fishing nets.
Idsungwüssä is a word in a Swiss dialect for which no English translation could be found, and it serves as the final chapter in a trilogy of concept albums, culminating in a sweeping, apocalyptic depiction of humanity’s downfall. Although thematically linked to the two previous albums (Look, Here Comes the Dark! and Débris de Mondes Perdus), Abraham takes a more progressive musical direction on this release.
This album doesn’t just cut deep—it drags the listener into murky, relentless intensity, weaving diverse melodic and melancholic passages with walls of crushing guitars, apocalyptic drums, and razor-sharp Swiss-German vocals. Idsungwüssä also contains ethereal moments, featuring Kevin Galland (Coilguns) on piano and Moog, as well as additional synths and keyboards contributed by Francmassombre and Edoardo Nigma.
With Idsungwüssä, Abraham delivers a dense album of psychedelic post-doom madness, unveiling striking atmospheres layered with avant-garde complexity. The result is a devastatingly powerful journey from start to finish.
