Spaceslug – Eye the Tide

Polish trio Spaceslug complete their first trilogy of releases by stepping out from under the stoner rock tag and revelling in their post-metal and grunge influences for the most ambitious and impressive work so far. It feels more like a beginning than an ending.

Grex – Electric Ghost Parade

An intricate and varying set of psych variations recalling The Fiery Furnace’s best moments, with free jazz moments as an extra bonus.

Shake Rattle Fest 2018

The first Shake Rattle Fest is a non-profit charity event with all proceeds going the amazing Project Mama – maternity action for migrants and asylum seekers. It will be at the most punk venue in New Cross – The Birds Nest and the line up is immense.

Ottawa Psych Fest 2018

ACTORS – It Will Come to You

Imagine The Sisters of Mercy crossed with The Cure and any other favorite post punk group, including even lesser known lights of the scene such as early Comsat Angels and you start to get an inkling of what to expect here.

Urban Voodoo Machine – Zanzibar, Liverpool

Each member of the band bring some amazing skills with them which allows them to fully get into the spirit of the show and play their part accordingly.

Ulrika Spacek – Suggestive Listening EP

Their smooth, deceptively minimalist and vintage sound is enticing.

Finnr’s Cane – Elegy

Canada’s Finnr’s Cane prove to be a beguiling addition to the atmospheric black metal scene. ‘Elegy’ is an enchanting album that showcases the best of the genre, if at times playing a bit too safe.

Lotic – Power

There are no 4/4 party bangers here, Power is an abstract and emotionally expressive album of joy, pain and transformation.

Bongripper – Terminal

Over the past 12 years Bongripper have evolved into the platonic idea of a doom band – almost reprehensibly low & slow with tones that threaten to shatter tectonic plates. ‘Terminal’ is short on surprises but is their most refined effort to date, a masterclass in unbridled, concentrated heaviosity.

Echolust – Loomer

A Long Beach dark wave project that has religiously studied the 80s post punk playbook, and they mine it marvellously.

Tim Hecker – Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again & Radio Amor

Fortunately Hecker hasn’t just nipped back to turn the volume up though. He and Matt Colton (of Alchemy Mastering) have approached these sessions with fresh ears and an apparent eagerness to find new rhythms and melodies buried within those original dronescapes. They tease out emotive leads from sunken dirges and, in the cases of ‘The Work Of Art In The Age Of Cultural Over Production’ and ‘7000 Miles’, beef up the noise to marrow-loosening levels.
